Reflections on Surat Ash-Shams (Part 1)

Here’s another episode of Imam Suhaib Webb’s on tafseer (interpreting) the Qur’an where he reflects on a new chapter of the Qur’an; Surat Al-Shams (the ninety first chapter of the Qur’an).

The episode is opened by a conversion story narrated by a new Muslim, then (after about 30 minutes) Imam Suhaib begins introducing the surah in general; time and place of its revelation, its name and how scholars differ about it, the goals of the surah, etc.

Then in details Imam Suhaib explains the meaning of the verses of the surah, word by word, showing the beauties and significance of its structure and other rhetorical devices used in them…

By the sun and his brightness, and the moon when she follows him, and the day when it reveals him, and the night when it enshrouds him, and the heaven and Him Who built it, and the earth and Him Who spread it,… (Ash-Shams 91:1-6)
