The Company You Keep

Having and choosing good companions who hold the same values and beliefs that we have is very important in Islam. The true friend or companion is the one who accepts your shortcomings, but at the same time guides and supports you. A good friend is the one who loves and forgives you for the sake of Almighty Allah. So, a believer must choose his friends carefully.

In this talk, Sheikh Abdul Nasir Jangda reflects on the following verses from Surat Al-Furqan (the 25th Chapter of the Qur’an) explaining the importance of good companions,

And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, “Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way. Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one as a friend. He led me away from the remembrance after it had come to me. And ever is Satan, to man, a deserter.” (Al-Furqan 25:27-29)

Sheikh Abdul Nasir begins this talk by shedding light on the narrations regarding the cause of revelation of these verses.
