He is Allah , the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (Al-Hashr 59:27)
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Allah has ninety-nine Names, i.e., one hundred minus one, and whoever believes in their meanings and acts accordingly, will enter Paradise; and Allah is witr (one) and loves ‘the witr‘ (i.e., odd numbers).” (Al-Bukhari)
Dr. Yasir Qadhi continues his commentary on the Beautiful Names and Attributes of Allah Almighty. He explains the concept of ‘Al-Maghfirah’ and its derivatives which has been mentioned 91 times in the Qur’an, making it one of the most common Names. [O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful. (Al-Hijr 15:49)
Then, Dr. Yasir mentions the differences between the different derivatives of the root ‘Ghafar’.
