The Word “Musa” in the Qur’an

Welcome to a new interesting talk with Sheikh Nouman Khan as he reflects and explains the meaning of the word ‘Musa’ (the name of the Prophet Moses – peace be upon him – who was sent by God to Pharaoh as well as his people to call them to the oneness of God).

One of the greatest miracles of the Qur’an is the name ‘Musa’. It is not pronounced ‘Musa’, but Moshe in Hebrew. Prophet Musa was born in Egypt at the  castle of Pharaoh, and he was named by the people in charge in the language of the Master, that is the old Egyptian language.

With the mission of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) after thousands of years, nobody knows the Egyptian language as well as the word ‘Musa’.

Then, Sheikh Nouman recites the following verse,

And the wife of Pharaoh said, “[He will be] a comfort of the eye for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son.” (Al-Qasas 28:9)
